Just 15 minutes east, Wrightsville Beach offers a totally different experience - five miles of pristine beaches and marshland, perfect for mild-to-wild adventures.  South of Wilmington is Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, known as Pleasure Island.  Playful highlights in these two classic beach towns include the Carolina Beach Boardwalk, North Carolina Aquarium and Fort Fisher State Historic Site.
