Explore the rich history, science, and cultures of the Lower Cape Fear region at the state's oldest history museum. Discover the past in Cape Fear Stories, where you can see a scale model of 1863 Wilmington waterfront and watch the Civil War Battle of Fort Fisher unfold before your eyes. Investigate the hands-on Michael Jordan Discovery Gallery and meet Wilmington's oldest resident, a 20-foot-tall Giant Ground Sloth. Enjoy educational programs for children and families every Saturday and programs for adults throughout the year. Changing special exhibits always on view.

Military Family DiscountHistoric Downtown Wilmington 11/9/2013 1/19/2014 In honor of our military, Cape Fear Museum is pleased to announce that for the duration of its Mail Call exhibit from November 9, 2013 through January 19, 2014, active duty military and their families will be admitted free of charge, with valid identification. Mail Call tells the fascinating story of military mail and communication-from the American Revolution to current wars in Iraq and Afghanista-Come watch the stories unfold at the Cape Fear Museum in beautiful Downtown Wilmington.
