Embark on a daytime watersport exploration by renting kayaks and standup paddleboards (SUPs) from Paddle NC for an eco-adventure. Maybe even paddle to Sugarloaf Dune for a short hike before heading back out on the water. Then, enjoy local, sustainable seafood with a peck of oysters, a craft cocktail and the classic shrimp and grits at the Surf House Oyster Bar + Surf Camp or take in an oceanfront view from a pier at “One of America’s Best Beach Bars,” Ocean Grill and Tiki Bar.

Hiking Wonders

Head out for a day full of hiking trails around Carolina Beach State Park where you’ll find indigenous carnivorous plants like the rare Venus flytrap, pitcher plants, sundews, bladderworts and butterworts. Then, hand pick your favorite beer from the enormous walk-in cooler offering over 350 beers at The Fat Pelican, a spot voted as one of the “Diviest Dive Bars in America.”

Surfing Adventures

Bring out your inner athlete and challenge yourself by signing up for surf lessons with an Olympic gold medalist at Tony Silvagni Surf School or combine science and surfing with Odysea Surf School’s surf camps. Known as the birthplace of beach music, there’s no better place to dance the night away after a day filled with surfing than with a trip to Seawitch Café & Tiki Bar!
