Primary Job Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for developing and executing various marketing initiatives for Wilmington, NC’s River District and Island Beaches and its respective municipalities. Work includes managing the daily activities associated with leisure, meetings, and sports advertising, proactive public relations tactics, development of multimedia content and the production and printing of publications and brochures. As such, this position is responsible for working directly with the advertising agency or agencies-of-record to implement advertising tactics with a variety of channels, including but not limited to streaming video, print, out-of-home, and various digital efforts. Comprehensive knowledge of marketing, research principles, methodologies and applications is required. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Executive Vice President of Marketing and Strategy.
Education and Experience
Graduation from a four-year college or university with BA/BS degree in marketing, communications, or advertising with at least six-eight years’ demonstrated work experience in marketing, advertising and multi-channel plans required; advertising agency, destination marketing, travel and tourism industry experience strongly preferred. Advertising account management, paid social media, writing, production and multimedia development skills expected. Travel and tourism industry and publications production experience a plus.
