American Watercolors: 50th Anniversary

  • overview
  • On October 31, 1938 the Wilmington Museum of Art (precursor to the Cameron Art Museum) opened its doors with an exhibition American Watercolors containing loans from the Museum of Modern Art; Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Fine Art, Boston. This exhibit of a uniquely American artistic medium included works by celebrated artists John Singer Sargent, Winslow Homer, George Bellows, George “Pop” Hart, and Yasuo Kuniyoshi.  In honor of the 50th anniversary of this exhibition, these important works will again be showcased in addition to other watercolors from the Cameron's permanent collection.
