North Carolina Symphony: Rhapsody in Blue

  • Capturing the soul of the Roaring 20’s, George Gershwin’s sweeping Rhapsody in Blue for piano and orchestra is the namesake musical number of this enchanging evening of American composers.  Aaron Copland starts by evoking idyllic country life through his Appalachian Spring. The Cherokee Chamber Singers also join the Symphony sharing music reflecting the Cherokee culture.   The most recent composer, William Brittelle’s “Si Otsedoha” (We’re Still Here) rounds out the program making this an unforgettable tribute to America’s rich heritage and exciting future.
