The University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) is a public university with over 14,000 students. Founded in 1947, UNCW is located between the Cape Fear River and the Atlantic Ocean and is recognized as having one of the most beautiful coastal college campuses. Neo-Georgian buildings are set among scenic landscaping including the Herbert Bluethenthal Memorial Wildflower Preserve and the nearby 174-acre Ev-Henwood Nature Preserve.
