Wilmington, NC:  It’s time to show Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach some love—with our votes! Southern Living – a subsidiary of Time, Inc. – recently launched its annual “South’s Best 2019” contest whereby readers are invited to vote for their favorite Southern spots. This year’s list of nominees include three of our destination gems. Wilmington is nominated in the category of the “South’s Best City,” with PinPoint Restaurant listed among the “South’s Best Restaurants.”  And Wrightsville Beach scores a nomination in the category of the “South’s Best Beach.”

The Wilmington and Beaches Convention & Visitors Bureau is hopeful that local citizens will vote for New Hanover County’s three nominees to help ensure that our destination is well-represented among the winners in the Southern Living “South’s Best 2019” contest.

“Securing a top spot in high-profile voting contests such as Southern Living’s ‘South’s Best’ provides great exposure for a travel destination. It provides that valuable third-party endorsement to potential visitors in our top visitor feeder markets,” states Kim Hufham, president/CEO of the New Hanover County Tourism Development Authority. “We are hopeful that our travel partners and local citizens will rally and vote for Wilmington, which continues to shine as a TripAdvisor ‘Destination on the Rise’ and as the USA Today 10Best ‘America’s Best Riverfront.’ Wrightsville Beach has also received numerous accolades, establishing itself as an active destination for races, watersports and wellness vacations.”

The digitally crowd-sourced survey about the South’s best places allows Southern Living readers to vote for their favorite places in the South. According to SouthernLiving.com, last year’s survey received more than 32,000 responses. Local citizens can show their community pride by casting their votes through October 9, 2018.

It’s easy to vote to make sure that Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach and PinPoint make this year’s list. Log onto the website where you can fill out the entire survey, or to save time, you may opt to select specific categories of “Best City” and “Best Beach.” No purchase is necessary and it only takes a few minutes to help us spread the word and cast your vote for our local contenders. As an added bonus, voters will have the opportunity to enter a Southern Living giveaway for a chance to win a Grand Prize of $2,500 or one of three prizes of $500. Voting ends on October 9th so be sure to cast your vote from all electronic devices.
