This community-focused cafe has a cozy, warm atmosphere that makes the experience that much better. Attached right next door is The Vibe Gift Shop, a local and thoughtfully curated boutique full of one-of-a-kind goods. From handmade mugs to festive candles for your home, this shop has a rotating selection that keeps you coming back for more.
Late Morning
Next, head to Biggers Market, where tables overflow with seasonal fruits, vegetables and flowers. You’ll also find wine, baked goods and plenty of specialty items. Once they begin to get their pumpkins, gourds and squashes, it’s the kind of place where you’ll want to linger and grab some fall-themed pictures with friends or family.
Fun facts: there are more than 25 varieties of pumpkins at the market, and you can enjoy live music during your visit—check their Facebook page for the most up-to-date schedule of events.
Afternoon
Eagle Island Fruit and Seafood
Cross the Cape Fear River for your next stop at Eagle Island Fruit and Seafood. Part roadside market, part local landmark, it’s packed with fresh produce and coastal staples. From just-picked vegetables to seafood ready for dinner, the market reflects the Cape Fear region’s bounty of fresh goods. They always have a large selection of pumpkins, gourds and more in the fall, so keep your eyes peeled. Inside, you’ll find aisles stocked with thousands of seasonings, hot sauces and other dry goods. It’s hard not to see a friendly face behind the counter at this local treasure also.
Day 2: Riverfront Markets and Variety Shops
Morning
Riverfront Farmers Market
Start your Saturday with the Riverfront Farmers Market, a downtown Wilmington tradition set along the Cape Fear River. Grab a warm drink and wander through small business vendor tents filled with produce, flowers and artisan goods. The bustling atmosphere and waterfront views make it a must for fall mornings downtown.
Late Morning
The Cotton Exchange
If you walk along the riverfront toward Hotel Ballast, you’ll find The Cotton Exchange, where historic brick buildings house a collection of local shops and restaurants. From jewelry and art to clothing and gifts, each store has its own character. It’s a spot where shopping feels like stepping back in time.
