Wilmington and its three nearby island beaches are filled with charming shops and local treasures that make holiday shopping feel like a getaway. From home décor to sweet treats, you’ll find something special for everyone on your list – and maybe a little something for yourself, too.

One-Stop Shopping

Skip the mall crowds and find everything you need in one stress-free stop. At Lumina Station, browse a collection of stylish boutiques. Pop into Airlie Moon for hand-crafted home goods with character, and Ziabird for artisan jewelry, handbags and more. When it’s time for a break, treat yourself to French fare at Brasserie Du Soleil.

Voted “Best Gift Shop in Wilmington” year after year, Blue Moon Gift Shops is a local favorite for good reason. More than 100 local artists and retailers share the space, offering everything from home décor and jewelry to Heide’s Gourmet Butter Mints. Don’t miss eclectic vendors like Teal Turtle Studio, specializing in coastal-inspired ceramics, and Figments, offering ornaments and stuffed animals for all ages.

Stop by The Cotton Exchange, a collection of shops spread across eight historic buildings in the heart of downtown Wilmington. From Fidler's Gallery/Wrigley's Clocks and GEMS4U to Port City Pottery & Fine Crafts, you’ll find a mix of home goods, fine art, coastal jewelry and more. Before you go, grab a specialty latte from Java Dog or a gourmet burger at The Basics.

Take a stroll along the famous Wilmington Riverwalk to the south end and stop in Chandler’s Wharf Warehouse Shops, where you’ll find local art, handmade goods and plenty of inspiration – even for the person who has everything. Stop by Swahili Coast to find locally designed accessories and homewares, all ethically made by East African artists, or pick up a natural, seasonally scented soy candle from Candles Etc. Garden lovers in your life will appreciate A Proper Garden’s thoughtful finds, from hummingbird feeders and decorative planters to floral soaps and copper wall art.

Explore the Districts

Wilmington’s creative districts make shopping feel more like exploring. Start in the Cargo District, a vibrant hub of shops, restaurants and bars – all housed in repurposed shipping containers. Pick up a seasonal latte from Blue Cup Roastery, then pop into Auggie & Zo for pet and lifestyle gifts, or The Plant Outpost for decorative pots and houseplants.

Next, check out theArtWorks, a large gallery and gift shop in the South Front District, or discover one-of-a-kind vintage pieces at thrift and antique shops in the Castle Street Arts District.

Dress to Impress

If you’re shopping for the style-minded, Wilmington’s boutiques have you covered. Choose from a selection of totes, wallets, bags and other accessories made from colorful vinyl at Holly Aiken. Each bag and accessory is handmade in North Carolina – you can even design your own for a customized gift.

At Edge of Urge in downtown Wilmington, discover fun, unexpected pieces from emerging and independent designers. Jess James + Co curates chic vintage clothing, accessories and collectibles for the trendsetter on your list, while bloke. specializes in casual, high-quality menswear and accessories.

Head to Wrightsville Beach to browse Hallelu Boutique's ever-changing selection of clothes, jewelry and accessories. New arrivals hit the racks daily, so you never know what gems you’ll find!

Gift Shops Galore

Bring a bit of Wilmington’s history home with gifts from local museum shops. At the Bellamy Mansion Museum of History & Design, Latimer House Museum and Fort Fisher State Historic Site in Kure Beach, you’ll find history-inspired keepsakes perfect for any collector. For nautical souvenirs, head to the Battleship NORTH CAROLINA, a refurbished World War II battleship moored on the Cape Fear River. Train enthusiasts will love the Wilmington Railroad Museum, where you can pick up t-shirts, model trains and more.

If you have an ornament-gifting tradition (or just love a little year-round holiday cheer), visit Father Christmas Studio. As Wilmington’s only year-round Christmas store, it’s a one-of-a-kind stop!

Pop-Up Markets

Enjoy a festive shopping experience with live street musicians and a DJ at the Really Cool Stuff Holiday Market, happening downtown on Nov. 29 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Or, find unique handcrafted gifts at the One Day Holiday Market at the BAC on Dec. 7 from noon to 5 p.m., complete with food trucks, coffee and seasonal cocktails.

On Dec. 6, 13, 20 and 27, stroll through downtown Wilmington’s holiday market, where local vendors line Market and Water Streets with gifts, treats and holiday spirit. Once you’ve found your treasures, head to the Riverwalk for a 7:30 p.m. drone show. Pro tip: Arrive early to snag parking, and grab dinner at Caprice Bistro before the show.

Explore a bounty of locally made goodies at the Wilmington Farmers Market at Tidal Creek every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Treat friends and family (and maybe yourself) to honey, pasta, sea salt, candles and more.

For a seaside spin on holiday shopping, visit the holiday markets in Wilmington’s island beaches. On Nov. 22 and 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., local vendors set up shop right by the ocean during the Kure Beach Holiday Market at Ocean Front Park & Pavilion. Browse handcrafted gifts, sample bites from food trucks and enjoy tunes by a live DJ. Then, visit Carolina Beach Lake Park for the Carolina Beach Holiday Market on Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. With more than 90 vendors, you’ll find everything from handmade soaps to shark teeth!

Holiday Eats and Treats

When in Wilmington and its island beaches, give the gift of something delicious! Customize a gift for the home chefs in your life at Cape Fear Spice Merchants, known for its hand-mixed spice blends, or Little Olive Co., which carries specialty oils, aged vinegars and more. Select a bottle of wine at Banter, then relax with a glass or a mocktail in its private courtyard.

Anyone with a sweet tooth will love the seasonal flavors at Cape Fear Rum Cake or the fudge boxes at Fudgeboat in Carolina Beach. Pick up all your holiday goodies, then treat yourself to a scoop (or two!) from Boombalatti's Ice Cream or GelaRto.

Seasonal Sips

For something a little stronger, Wilmington’s distilleries offer locally made spirits worth toasting. Find locally sourced rum, gin or vodka at End of Days Distillery, Wilmington’s first craft distillery and multi-year International Tasting Consumer Sip Awards winner. Stop by the Cotton Exchange’s family-owned Momentum Distillery for spirits in a North Carolina-shaped bottle, or head to a local ABC Store to grab a beautiful glass-blown bottle of Blue Shark Vodka – made from locally grown sweet corn and bottled in nearby Wrightsville Beach.

Don’t forget the coffee lovers on your list! Port City Java, a local favorite with more than a dozen locations, roasts its beans right here in Wilmington. Grab a bag for anyone whose day doesn’t start until that first sip, or call ahead to order a half gallon of Mermaid Magic, the beloved cold brew potion from Happy Hippies Java Hut in Kure Beach.

You also can’t go wrong with a local gift card. From coffee shops and restaurants to water tours or cooking classes, it’s a fun way to share your favorite Wilmington experiences with the people you love – and maybe convince them to bring you along for the ride!

This holiday season, shop local and bring home gifts that tell a story. From handmade art and stylish finds to coastal flavors and keepsakes, Wilmington and its island beaches make it easy to find something as special as the people you’re shopping for.
